The transition is complete

We have sucessfully migrated to a new web host.

A webhost is a computer file-server that contains the files needed to display a web site such as Napasars. Most sites are too big and generate too much traffic to be hosted at home. As a matter of fact, most if not all ISPs (Internet Service Providers) such a AT&T and Verizon specifically prohibit home-hosting as they tend to use too much bandwidth.

There are many hosting companies that offer to host your web pages for a small fee, around $8 to $10 per month. Our original host was, which was subscribed to around 2005 by Glenn Henderson, WA7OBG. and Mark Evans, KE6O. I took over managing the website around 2007 and built the page using HTML coding
In 2011 I was contacted by David Hildebrandt, N5APA who offered to save the club some money by hosting our web site on his servers, which he ran for his business and had spare capacity.
At the same time, and at David’s suggestion, I switched the page coding from HTML to WordPress, which is pretty much what you see today.
A few weeks ago, David notified me that he was taking down his servers at the end of march 2018 and would no longer be able to host us. David Whalin then opened an account with and we migrated the page files to that company.
One additional expense to operating a website is paying for the Domain Name. Every website whether it’s or has a unique name, which is controlled by an international company called ICANN. We pay a yearly fee to “own” You can see the necessity of this if you compare it to “the phone company”. What if nobody regulated telephone numbers and several people worldwide had the same number as you?

About n6xn

It all started in 1968 at a small 100 Watt radio station in Napa California. Looks like I finally got my priorities straight: the career is on the back burner and the K3 is getting some air time.
